Matar hariji hausa novel complete part 1

The village of Dan-maraya, located in Kano State, was a small village blessed with rich farmland and livestock, where people lived simple lives filled with peace and modesty. Although the people of Dan-maraya did not enjoy the wealth of the city, they were always happy and content, despite the occasional challenges of life. The village was built in the midst of beautiful hills that weren’t too dark to evoke fear. There was always a gentle breeze blowing through this village, making it a pleasant place, especially during the rainy season. Entering the village, one would feel a sense of peace and would not want to leave because of its beauty.

Shamsiyya's family home was located near a small path, close to her father’s farmland, which he had inherited from his father, Sarkin Noma. Although Shamsiyya's parents lived in the village, their lifestyle would surprise anyone, as they lived quite comfortably, similar to city dwellers. Her father, Malam Sani, was an educated man, knowledgeable in both rural and urban life, having lived in the city and studied agriculture and livestock management.

Shamsiyya was a beautiful woman, poised and graceful, and she was the only child of Malam Sani, raised in a home rich in tradition and manners. Her parents, Malam Sani and his wife Hauwa’u, did their best to raise her well, providing both formal education and religious instruction. Shamsiyya was particularly gifted in her studies and other skills, which endeared her to many in Dan-maraya. People admired her good character and believed she would marry into a happy and stable life. Despite being young, Shamsiyya was intelligent and had a deep passion for learning, further increasing her popularity and respect in the village.

On the other side of life, Safwan was a beloved young man from a nearby village to the west of Dan-maraya, called Hariji. His village was larger than Dan-maraya. Safwan grew up in a pampered environment, well-loved by his parents. He was one of the children of Alhaji Shehu Hariji, a wealthy and prominent man known for helping the needy and providing various forms of support in their village. Safwan was diligent and well-mannered. Despite his wealth, he treated everyone with respect and never looked down on those less fortunate.

Safwan and Shamsiyya met at a traditional festival that was held yearly in different Hausa communities, called "Bikin Cika Ciki." The festival was a celebration of the harvest season, where men and women gathered to feast and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Different tribes, including Fulani, Hausa, Bare-bari, and Maguzawa, came together to celebrate and showcase their cultural traditions. The festival was a time of joy, and Shamsiyya, like the other young women, joined in the dancing, moving gracefully on the stage set for the audience.

Safwan and his friends had come to watch the festivities. From a distance, he spotted Shamsiyya dancing with elegance and beauty, and instantly, Safwan was struck by love. It was as if a cupid's arrow had pierced his heart. His gaze was locked on her, and he found himself unable to think of anything else.

After the festival, Safwan asked his friend Aminu to help him find out more about this enchanting girl. Aminu, who knew most of the village girls because his mother was from Dan-maraya, told Safwan, “That’s Shamsiyya, the daughter of Malam Sani, a highly respected man in the village.” This information_made_Safwan_even_more enamored_with_Shamsiyya, and he_began seeking_a_way_to_talk_to_her.

A couple of days later, Safwan succeeded in contacting Shamsiyya with the help of Aminu. Their relationship began slowly, with mutual respect and admiration, as they spent time together, talking about their dreams for the future. Shamsiyya’s dream was to live in peace with her husband and build a stable home, while Safwan shared his desire to move to the city to continue his studies and build a life filled with love and prosperity.

Their relationship blossomed into a love full of joy and happiness. Despite the traditional norms of their Hausa culture, which didn’t allow for open displays of affection, their love was built on mutual respect. They met in a dignified manner, talking about their aspirations without crossing any boundaries.

After a year of peaceful and loving courtship, Safwan proposed to Shamsiyya. Their wedding took place in Dan-maraya, where their families gathered to celebrate with joy and excitement. After their marriage, Safwan took Shamsiyya to the city, where he continued his studies and began working to provide for his new family.

However, married life wasn’t as easy as they had imagined. Safwan’s new job required him to travel frequently, leaving home early in the morning and returning late at night. Whenever he came home, he found Shamsiyya waiting for him, sometimes with their newborn child. He barely had time to spend with his family, and Shamsiyya, though patient, began to feel lonely. She always did her best to care for their home and fulfill her role as a wife and mother, but the growing distance between them troubled her deeply.

One evening, after Safwan returned from a business trip, Shamsiyya sat him down for a heartfelt conversation. “Safwan,” she said softly, “I’m not saying I’m unhappy with how you’re providing for us, but I feel like you’re becoming distant. It feels like your job has become more important than we are.”

Safwan was silent for a few moments, contemplating her words. He knew she was right. The pressures of work had consumed his time and energy. He loved Shamsiyya deeply, but he was struggling to balance his responsibilities. “I’ve tried my best to reduce my travel schedule, but it hasn’t worked out yet,” Safwan replied. “I’m doing everything I can to find a way to be here more with you and our child. I promise I’ll keep trying.”

After their conversation, Safwan made a greater effort to adjust his work schedule, and eventually, he succeeded. He was able to spend more time at home, giving Shamsiyya and their child the attention they deserved. He realized that while providing for his family was important, so was being present for them.

As time passed, their life began to improve. They started spending weekends together, going on outings and visiting family, and making plans for their future. Shamsiyya felt more at peace, knowing that Safwan was now more involved in their lives.

In both Safwan’s village of Hariji and Shamsiyya’s village of Dan-maraya, people began to see them as an exemplary couple, united in love and partnership. Despite the challenges they had faced, they learned that marriage required teamwork, love, and communication. Safwan learned how to balance his work and family life, while Shamsiyya grew into a patient and understanding wife.

Their lives were filled with happiness, and as they continued to build their family, Safwan decided to run for a political position in their community. He was successful, and he began to play a key role in transforming their villages into modern towns, further strengthening their bond and legacy.
